Sofia Goggia plays the music

On Friday, the fastest female skiers in the world competed in their second downhill training run in Val d'Isere (France) – and once again Sofia Goggia set the pace.

Just one day after setting the fastest time in the first training run, Sofia Goggia was once again the fastest in Val d'Isère. Although her time was beaten by Germany's Kira Wide-Winkelmann, she missed a gate and was therefore disqualified. Lindsey Vonn finished second, 31 hundredths of a second behind Goggia.

“I can literally feel it getting better every day,” said Goggia before the third downhill race of the season, which takes place on Saturday from 10.30 a.m. The event will take place, and Nicol Delago will start with good prospects. The Val Gardena native finished fifth in the final training run. "I skied aggressively, and that's clearly paying off on the slope. I think I'm on the right track," said Delago.

Laura Pirovano became another Azzurra rider to finish in the top ten on Friday, while Nadia Delago (32nd) and Sara Thaler (42nd) finished further back in the standings.
