Switzerland is worried about its new ski heroine

The ski season is approaching its final stretch – and now, of all times, the new Swiss heroine is being slowed down.

Camille Rast has risen like a comet to become a skiing hero in Switzerland this winter. The 25-year-old has not only crowned herself slalom world champion, but also has a great chance of grabbing the small crystal globe in this discipline. But just before the season finale, Switzerland is worried about its new superstar.

Her violent crash in Sestriere - where Rast crashed at the finish - left more of a mark than initially expected. "It was a tough week after my crash in Sestriere, but I'm making progress every day," Rast wrote on Instagram, adding: "At first I could hardly walk and my hip still hurts a bit. But I'm staying positive."

Start this weekend is up in the air

This week, Rast will train with the team again - although it is still unclear whether she will be able to compete in the technical races in Åre this weekend. "I'll start with easy skiing to see how it feels. Then I'll decide at the last minute whether I'll race this weekend or not."

If Rast is unable to start in the Åre slalom on Sunday, it would be a bitter setback in the battle for the small crystal globe. The Swiss is currently 39 points behind the leading Croatian Zrinka Ljutic. After the slalom in Sweden, the only event left is the World Cup final in the USA.
