Tierra del Fuego is calling: Winter begins for the Azzurri
While late summer has arrived in South Tyrol, winter is raging in the Southern Hemisphere. Italy's ski aces will have to trade warm temperatures for snow and cold in the coming days as they head off to South America for their training camp.

Chile and Argentina are the preferred destinations for (almost) all professional skiers in the fall. They offer optimal mountain conditions at this time of year, although the weather in South America can often be fickle. Nevertheless, there are few better places to train in September and early October.
While some nations have already departed for South America, the Azzurri will follow in the coming days. While the technical athletes are headed to Ushuaia, Argentina, the speed aces are heading for Chile. Some athletes, including Marta Bassino, have also already been in South America for a few days.
Dominik Paris with special plan
Mattia Casse, Florian Schieder, Guglielmo Bosca, Christoph Innerhofer, Benjamin Alliod, Nicolò Molteni, Marco Abbruzzese, Matteo Franzoso, and Giovanni Franzoni fly to La Parva on Friday and stay at the Chilean ski resort for a full month. The women's speed skiers, Laura Pirovano, Elena Curtoni, Nadia Delago, and Nicol Delago, will arrive one day later. In Ushuaia, conditions are excellent in September – weather permitting.
Dominik Paris is taking a different route. The Ultner native is also leaving for Chile on Friday, but he won't be training at La Parva. Instead, Paris will head to El Colorado, near the capital, Santiago de Chile. From there, he'll continue to Portillo on September 13th, before moving to Ushuaia, Argentina, a week later. So, instead of staying at La Parva for a full month, Paris will be changing homes twice.Snow comeback from Sofia Goggia
The Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) is looking forward to Ushuaia with particular excitement. It's where Italy's ski queen Sofia Goggia will make her first turns on snow. The Bergamo native is on her way to Tierra del Fuego in Argentina, where she'll be fine-tuning her skills for the new season after a long injury layoff. With a return from Federica Brignone still not in sight, even more hopes are resting on Goggia at the Olympics in February.Edit Profile
