The first World Cup races of the new year are scheduled for this coming weekend in the Slovenian ski resort of Kranjska Gora. A total of nine Italian skiers are nominated for Saturday's giant slalom (10:00/12:15), including the two South Tyroleans, Laura Steinmair and Anna Trocker. Steinmair made her World Cup debut in Kranjska Gora in 2023. The 25-year-old from Olang has six World Cup starts to her name (all in giant slalom), but has never made it to the second run. The 17-year-old Anna Trocker (Völs), on the other hand, only recently competed in her first World Cup race at the giant slalom in Semmering (AUT).
The Azzurre giant slalom team is led by Sofia Goggia, Lara Della Mea, Asja Zenere, Ilaria Ghisalberti, Giorgia Collomb, Alice Pazzaglia and Ambra Pomarè.
For Sunday's slalom (9:30 a.m./12:15 p.m.), only six skiers have been nominated: Lara Della Mea, Giorgia Collomb, Emilia Mondinelli, Martina Peterlini, Beatrice Sola, and Giulia Valleriani. Italy lost a starting place after the race in Semmering. The one who lost is 16-year-old Giada D'Antonio from Naples, who made her World Cup debut in Semmering.
Nor-Am for Trocker and D'Antonio
Anna Trocker, Giada D'Antonio and Giorgia Collomb will fly to Canada next week, where the trio will compete in four races (two giant slaloms/two slaloms) in the Nor-Am Cup (comparable to the European Cup).Edit Profile
