For Dominik Paris, the trip to Emilia Romagna was a welcome change from his daily training routine. The 36-year-old has been back in training since mid-May. After ending the previous season with Lindsey Vonn, Ester Ledecka, and other top stars at a top snow training session at the Schwemmalm in Ulten at the end of April, the focus has since been on the most difficult phase of preparation for any ski athlete: conditioning. Domme Paris says it all: "I'm getting older every day, and the grind isn't getting any easier. I train under the trusted guidance of my fitness coach, Mattias Schnitzer. Every now and then, I drive to the sports field in Lana, but most of the time, I can work out at home in the weight room. My physiotherapist and brother-in-law, Luis Kuppelwieser, is there with me almost every day."

No longer the scope of before Paris works five days a week, averaging between four and five hours. "On Saturdays and Sundays, I'm there for the family, but I also get my strength from going up the mountain or going on excursions." He continues: "The training volumes aren't as extensive as they were at the beginning of my career, when I had to do much more extreme muscle building. Only now, I need more time to warm up and, above all, to recover. I used to recover much faster from the rigors of training." "If I'm honest, I've only ridden a racing bike once this year. No ski training in summer While Christof Innerhofer and his Finanzwache sports group have already logged around 15 to 20 days of training on snow at the Stelvio Pass, Domme Paris is an avowed opponent of summer ski training. The main reason: "The conditions are simply too poor, or to put it another way, completely different from winter. Therefore, it's a completely different kind of skiing experience."

The Ultner native won't put on his skis for the first time until early September, when he'll head overseas for training, first to El Colorado and La Parva in Chile, and then to Ushuaia in Argentina. There, Paris will add a few more days of training with the giant slalom group. His return to Europe isn't planned until early/mid-October, before heading to Copper Mountain (USA) in the second week of November. Paris: "It's getting increasingly difficult to train on glaciers in Europe in October. There's simply no snow left. To bridge those three to four weeks and avoid losing too much of our technical skills, we've postponed training in South America by a few weeks this year."

The men's Alpine Ski World Cup season begins with the traditional giant slalom in Sölden on October 26. The first speed races will take place from December 4 to 6 in Beaver Creek (two downhill races, one super-G). Val Gardena is next on December 19 and 20. Because Bormio will host the 2026 Olympics in February, a super-G will be held in Livigno instead on December 27. A total of 18 speed races are scheduled (nine downhill races and nine super-G races), and 20 are in the technical disciplines (nine giant slaloms, eleven slaloms).
