The podium of the second European Cup slalom.

A Swede wins in the Ahrntal

The second European Cup women's slalom took place today in winter conditions on the Goasleitn piste in the Skiworld Ahrntal. The radiant winner is the Swede Estelle Alphand, who was able to prevail ahead of Marion Chevrier from France and Anuk Brändli from Switzerland.

The international field of starters found the best piste conditions again in the second race on the selective Goasleitn piste in the Ahrntal valley in cold weather conditions. In the first run, the top runners were closely placed with Aline Hoepli from Switzerland in the lead, followed by Elsa Fermbaeck (Sweden) and the previous day's runner-up Marion Chevrier (France).

In an exciting second run, the strong Frenchwoman was overtaken by the Swede Estelle Alphand, who managed to take the lead with a top run. Anuk Brändli from Switzerland completed the podium. The half-time leader Hoepli was eliminated, as was Vera Tschurtschenthaler, who was fourth. The best South Tyrolean athlete was Celina Haller in 11th place.
