After World Cup medal: Strong statements from Gut-Behrami

After winning the silver medal in the team combination, Lara Gut-Behrami hit out – at her former coach.

She had to deal with some disappointments at this World Championship, but now Lara Gut-Behrami has won her first medal in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. In the team combination, the Swiss star skier won the silver medal with Wendy Holdener.

The two Swiss women were extremely happy, and the medal was particularly emotional for Holdener, as she was thinking of her deceased brother (who lost his battle with cancer a year ago) at the moment of her success. Gut-Behrami showed a lot of sympathy and comforted her skiing friend. Afterwards, however, there were explosive statements.

Strong statements against the former coach

She has gone through a transformation, says Gut-Behrami. What does she mean by that? "Eight or nine years ago, Wendy and I certainly wouldn't have started together," says the 33-year-old.

There is a reason for this. "When Wendy joined the team, my coach, our head coach, tried everything to set us against each other. My relationship with many athletes suffered as a result." These are explosive statements - and are addressed to Mauro Pini, her former coach.

Pini had accompanied the Olympic champion at the beginning of her career and was even a friend of the family. Meanwhile, the Swiss writes Blick, the two are completely at odds. Pini is currently the coach of Petra Vlhova.
