Also in Sestriere: Robinson and Brignone dominate

A women's World Cup giant slalom will be held in Sestriere on Friday. Alice Robinson and Federica Brignone set the tone in the first run.

As in the World Cup giant slalom in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Robinson and Brignone showed in the first run in Sestriere that they are currently in a league of their own in this discipline. The New Zealander is currently 19 hundredths of a second ahead of the Italian. Third-placed Paula Moltzan is already over 8 tenths behind Robinson.

Brignone had recently been ill for a few days. Therefore, her performance can still be assessed positively. At the finish, the giant slalom world champion was completely exhausted, although Brignone managed to make up time in the lower section. Mikaela Shiffrin, on the other hand, was very cautious in the first run and is only in 18th place.

The Italians Sofia Goggia and Marta Bassino, who were in poor form, also finished outside the top 10. Brignone's biggest rival in the overall World Cup, Lara Gut-Behrami, was eliminated in the lower part. The only South Tyrolean, Elisa Platino, also did not finish. The final will begin at 13.30:XNUMX p.m.
