Dream run: Federica Brignone on course for gold!

After the disappointment in the downhill, Federica Brignone made an impressive comeback in the first run of the World Cup giant slalom in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.

Brignone skipped the team combination on Tuesday: This seems to have paid off, because two days later "Fede" appeared fresh again in the first giant slalom run - and how: The 34-year-old conjured up a fabulous time in the snow with start number 4, which left the competition struggling to match. Second-placed Alice Robinson from New Zealand is already 67 hundredths behind Brignone, who cheered loudly at the finish.

Third place, Paula Moltzan (USA), has already lost 1,24 seconds to the overall World Cup leader. Behind her, Lara Gut-Behrami and Sara Hector are within striking distance of the medals. Mikaela Shiffrin, on the other hand, skipped the giant slalom. Sofia Goggia, on the other hand, was eliminated and thus experienced her next World Cup disappointment. Just like Marta Bassino, for whom nothing at all has gone right this season.
