“Double love”: Former ski star in great baby joy

There is good news from the world of skiing: a former world-class downhill skier has become a father for the second time.

He has undoubtedly left a lasting mark on Austrian skiing history. Over the past two decades, Hannes Reichelt has not only been one of the most charismatic downhill skiers, but also one of the best. With 44 World Cup podium finishes, including 13 victories (including the Kitzbühel downhill), plus the 2015 Super-G World Championship title, Reichelt is truly a legend.

The now 45-year-old ended his career in spring 2021. But the former athlete certainly won't be bored in his sporting retirement, as his family keeps him busy. In 2016, Reichelt married his longtime girlfriend Larissa Hofer, who hails from Sulden in the Vinschgau region of South Tyrol and was also a former skier. Their first son was born in April 2019, and now their second baby is on the way.

"Our little adventure continues to grow. We recently welcomed a new addition to the family. From now on, I'm the proud father of two boys – double the happiness, double the chaos, double the love," Reichelt wrote joyfully on Instagram. Congratulations came from many former skiing companions, including Manuela Mölgg, who also recently welcomed her second baby. So there's no need to worry about the next generation of skiers.
