Anyone who follows Lindsey Vonn on Instagram gets plenty of insight into her private life. The ski queen often talks and posts about what drives her off the slopes. It's clear that the 40-year-old American is a family person—through and through. When she lost her mother to ALS, Vonn was very open about the story and let her feelings flow freely on the social network. And now, she's causing a stir again with a moving post.

Recently, there was a family reunion in Wisconsin – and the ski powerhouse enjoyed it to the fullest. Also because she has special memories of this place. "When I was a kid," Vonn writes alongside the photos, "I came here every summer. I wish my grandparents were still alive to see us still coming back here."

A great family reunion

Sisters, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews—it was a large group that attended this gathering. "Nothing is better than returning to your roots. The Midwest will always be a part of me," Vonn said.

Whether on a boat trip, fooling around in a meadow, or simply relaxing on an idyllic jetty, the star skier truly enjoyed her time with her loved ones. And it also recharged her batteries. "Now I'm ready for another tough training block," Vonn writes in conclusion.
