Six months ago, Justin Murisier celebrated the greatest success of his career. Back then, at the beginning of December, he won the downhill in Beaver Creek – his first ever World Cup race. Otherwise, the Swiss skier had a strong season and would have every reason to celebrate. If, yes, if it weren't for his physical problems.
Murisier recently revealed that knee problems had kept him on painkillers for the entire season. Therefore, he underwent surgery after the winter. So, is everything okay? No! A few days ago, Murisier received more bad news: a slipped disc. And so the 33-year-old had to go under the knife again.

"I'm a little sad to announce that I had to undergo another surgery," Murisier wrote on Instagram. "I love my sport, I love my life as a skier, but it's not easy to accept that I've rarely been able to truly ski at my true level. My body has often thrown obstacles in my way," Murisier said.
First knee surgery, then herniated disc
The Swiss rider then briefly explains his ordeal: "The 2025 season was one of the most difficult for me. Knee pain prevented me from training properly and riding at my best." Therefore, he had surgery in mid-April and was optimistic that he would be able to approach preseason training with full force. But things turned out differently. "Last week, I suddenly experienced severe pain in my lower back, which radiated down to my thigh and calf. The diagnosis: a slipped disc. The pain was so severe that I had to undergo surgery."A bitter setback for Murisier, who nevertheless looks forward with optimism. "I'm determined to give it my all to be fit for the coming season." He may have been physically challenged time and again, but his enormous fighting spirit was never broken.
