The 27-year-old Styrian took her commanding halftime lead to the finish line at the season opener in Sölden, ahead of US-American Paula Moltzan (+0,58 seconds) and Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami (+1,11). Mikaela Shiffrin finished fourth (+1,42). For the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV), this is the first victory on the Rettenbachferner glacier since 2014, when Anna Veith triumphed at the same time as Mikaela Shiffrin.
Scheib redeemed the ÖSV women after a winless run of 79 giant slalom races. She had already proven that the glacier race in Tyrol's Ötztal valley suits her with third place last year. It was her first and so far only podium finish in the World Cup.

Asja Zenere was the only Azzurra to make it into the second run of the top 30, finishing 19th. There, she gained two positions and ultimately finished the race in 17th place (+2,76).
Platino and Steinmair fail in the first run
Elisa Platino from Obermais and Laura Steinmair from Olang, however, missed qualifying for the second run. Steinmair, who competed in her only two World Cup races in January 2023, finished 41st in the first run. The 25-year-old was 5,07 seconds behind the leader Scheib. Platino could not finish higher than 53rd (+7,08 seconds).Edit Profile
