A happy couple: Atle Lie McGrath and his girlfriend experienced a special moment.

Second in the ski race, winner in love

When things are going well, they are going well. Norway's hottest iron in the Ski World Cup experienced a very special moment at the weekend.

He is one of the biggest protagonists in this still young season: Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath is in outstanding form. The 24-year-old made it onto the podium in Sölden, Gurgl and now Val d'Isère. In absolute numbers: six races, three podium places - that's not bad at all.

McGrath will remember his second place on Sunday in Val d'Isère for a long time to come. "I finally achieved one of my dreams on Sunday," the Norwegian wrote on Instagram alongside a photo showing him arm in arm with his girlfriend Maud Brandtzæg. "I finally had a good race when my girlfriend was there," said McGrath.

“Only” two and a half years of patience

The Norwegian immediately explains what is behind it. "She has been coming to my races regularly since Sölden 2022, and it only took two and a half years of patience for me to get my first podium finish (and my first top 10 finish) when she was there," writes the Scandinavian with a lot of humor. "I love it so much when I can share such beautiful moments with the people I love the most."

Second place in the race, winner in love – things are really going like clockwork for Atle Lie McGrath. The Norwegian has a total of 2 podium finishes to his name. It's quite possible that his girlfriend Maud will be able to celebrate with her darling a few more times in the future.
