A ski season can be long, exhausting, and strenuous. This makes the stars all the more keen to enjoy the time afterward, not only recharging their batteries but also spending time with their loved ones. This has also been the case in recent years with Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, the dream couple of the skiing world.
During the winter, the two superstars were often separated by thousands of kilometers, but after the season, they'd head off to Hawaii, New York, Colorado to see Mikaela, Norway to see Aleksander, or their adopted hometown of Innsbruck. But this year, things are a little different. The two exceptional talents are currently going through a love triangle.
Not seen since the beginning of April
“I haven’t seen Mikaela since the beginning of April,” Kilde says in an interview with VG. Separated for more than two months – why is that? It's simple: While Mikaela currently has a lot of appointments to attend in the US and has even taken a short vacation with her family, Aleksander is working hard on his comeback in Europe.Kilde suffered a serious injury in January 2024 – and Mikaela was there to support him. © Instagram
As a reminder, in January 2024, the Norwegian suffered a brutal fall in Wengen, sustaining numerous injuries. Several surgeries later, Kilde is well on his way to returning to skiing next season, although he still needs a lot of rehabilitation.
Will the wedding bells ring soon?
Kilde and Shiffrin got engaged a year ago. The journalist wanted to know whether wedding bells would ring soon. VG know. "We haven't seen each other in two months, which says a lot. I think one of us will have to give up skiing until then. It's nice to be engaged, too," Kilde reveals. The Norwegian misses his Mikaela, but he also says: "We both know that the skiing life is limited. And we know that the day we decide to do something else, we'll be together and have a great time." These thoughts should make the withdrawal of love much easier to bear.
