Serious training crash: Azzurro in artificial coma

Shocking moment in Chile: Italian ski racer Matteo Franzoso suffered a serious fall during training in La Parva. The 25-year-old from Genoa suffered severe head trauma.

Help arrived immediately. Franzoso was treated directly on the slope, then taken by helicopter to a hospital in Santiago. He is now in intensive care and has been placed in an artificial coma by doctors so that the necessary tests can be performed.


The FISI medical team is in close contact with the medical team in Chile and is closely monitoring every development. Everyone is now hoping for good news from Santiago. Official updates on the young downhill skier's health are expected in the coming days.


UPDATE:
The Italian Winter Sports Federation announced on Monday evening: Matteo Franzoso did not make it, he succumbed to his serious injuries.
