Ski dream couple got married

Stephanie Venier, the newly crowned 2025 Super-G World Champion, and her long-time partner Christian Walder have tied the knot.

The wedding took place on Wednesday at the picturesque Stöttlalm mountain hut on the Mieminger Plateau near Innsbruck, a particularly lovely spot in her home region. Venier had only announced her pregnancy and retirement from competitive sports a few weeks earlier. The wedding thus takes place in a year full of major personal turning points.

In February 2025, Venier crowned herself the oldest Super-G World Champion with gold at the World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm – she also won bronze in the team combined. In August, the 31-year-old announced the end of her skiing career – citing a lack of motivation and a conscious desire to retire at her peak.

Shortly thereafter, the engagement and pregnancy announcement, including an adorable ultrasound picture, came on Instagram: "Our love is growing in the most magical way." Following the wedding, Venier declared: "For my fans, I will remain Stephi Venier" – despite the new surname Walder.
