Henrik Kristoffersen achieved an extremely rare feat at the weekend. In Kranjska Gora, the Norwegian won the giant slalom and the slalom within 24 hours. For the exceptional athlete, these were his 32nd and 33rd World Cup triumphs; in total, he has no fewer than 94 podium finishes in the highest ski racing series. And at 30, Kristoffersen still has a few good years ahead of him - or does he?

After the race, the family man caused a stir with cryptic statements in an interview with ORF. "I'm very happy with the weekend. But let's see if I continue next season," Kristoffersen said, hinting at a possible end to his career after this winter. ORF reporter Rainer Pariasek reacted with surprise and asked if he was really thinking about quitting. "Well, we'll see."

Why is the superstar suddenly so brooding? "One, two, three years is something. But fighting for the podium and victory for ten years is something else. It's not easy for the mind. But I'm very happy with this weekend," said Kristoffersen.

The fact is that the Norwegian's retirement would come as a great surprise, especially since the Olympic Games are coming up next winter. Kristoffersen has already won two medals there, but none of them gold. It remains to be seen how the young father decides about his future.
