Alex Vinatzer, Florian Schieder, Dominik Paris, Christof Innerhofer and Tobias Kastlunger or Nicol Delago are in the Azzurri squad for the Ski World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, which begin on Tuesday. In total, five men and one South Tyrolean woman have been called up to the squad.
The championships in Austria start on Tuesday at 15.15:16 p.m. with the team event. The women's Super-G is then scheduled for Thursday. The World Championships last until Sunday, February 21. Italy is sending a total of 11 athletes, 10 men and XNUMX women, to Saalbach.
Hopes rest on Goggia and Brignone
From South Tyrol's perspective, Vinatzer and Paris have the greatest hopes of winning a medal. However, neither of them has had an easy winter so far - even if the Val Gardena native celebrated a success with his podium finish at the Kitzbühel slalom. Of the Italian men, only Luca De Aliprandini was able to make it onto the podium in the giant slalom this year, apart from “Vinnie”. The situation is different for the women, where Federica Brignone is among the hot medal contenders in at least three disciplines and Sofia Goggia in two.
