The top favorite lives up to her role

After her victory in the giant slalom, Giorgia Collomb was unable to follow up at the Junior World Championships in Tarvisio. In the slalom, the 18-year-old had to give way to a Swedish World Cup athlete, among others.

Cornelia Öhlund may only be 19 years old, but she has already scored points 14 times in the World Cup. Her best result was two weeks ago in Sestriere, when she raced up to fifth place thanks to a brilliant best time in the second run. Given these results, she was the clear favorite on Wednesday in Tarvis. The Swede ultimately lived up to expectations, winning the gold medal ahead of the Austrians Leonie Raich and Natalie Falch.

Öhlund set the fastest time in the first run and was not going to let anyone take the butter off her bread in the final round. Her lead over Raich, who is a distant relative of Benjamin Raich, was 18 hundredths in the final reckoning.

Collomb only strong in the second run

Collomb had a very good second run, but lost too much time in the first run. She had to settle for fifth place, 76 hundredths behind. Öhlund's compatriot Esther Nordberg came fourth. Emilia Mondinelli was another Azzurra in the top 5 (10th).
