Germany and Austria celebrate medals

The German and Austrian Nordic combined athletes each won a medal at the World Championships in Norway.

The German quartet Julian Schmid, Jenny Nowak, Nathalie Armbruster and Vinzenz Geiger were only defeated by the superior Norwegians. Bronze went to the four Austrians Stefan Rettenegger, Claudia Purker, Lisa Hirner and Johannes Lamparter.

Norway (Jens Luraas Oftebro, Gyda Westvold Hansen, Ida Marie Hagen, Jarl Magnus Riiber) had already led after the ski jumping and then secured a safe start-to-finish victory over 2x5 and 2x2,5 kilometers.

First medal for Austria

For the German Ski Association (DSV) team, it was the second medal on the second day of medal decisions. Shortly before, Selina Freitag had also won silver in ski jumping. For Austria, it was even the first medal at the championships in the far north.
