Biathlon ace: Happily engaged again after love whirlwind

A strange love affair once caused a stir in the biathlon scene. Now one ski hunter has butterflies in his stomach again.

In recent years, Swedish biathletes have performed brilliantly in the World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Games. The Scandinavians have made headlines not only because of their sporting achievements, but also because of a very special gossip story.

At the end of 2021, it became known that there had been a strange partner swap in the Swedish team. Hanna Öberg, who had been in a relationship with her colleague Jesper Nelin for a long time, fell in love with Martin Ponsiluoma. Nelin, on the other hand, found his new love with Fanny Johansson, also in his own team. But she was - no joke - Ponsiluoma's girlfriend before.

This love chaos had a ripple effect far beyond the country's borders, also because things were starting to simmer within the team. "I don't know if we can still be friends," Nelin said at the time.

The matter has since been forgotten – and the particular circumstances have also changed somewhat. While Öberg is still happily in a relationship with Ponsiluoma, Nelin and Johansson have now separated. The 2018 Olympic relay champion confirmed this to the Swedish newspaper expressen. At the same time, he also announced another piece of news.

Nelin has found a new love. 32-year-old Sandra is now the woman at his side - and shows passion for her boyfriend's job, after all she already kept him company during training in preparation for the World Championships in Lenzerheide. And: unlike Nelin's previous girlfriends, Sandra is not a biathlete. So there will be no love tangle like before this time.
