Jessie Diggins dominates pursuit in Toblach

The overall leader of the Tour de Ski, Jessie Diggins, dominated the 20-kilometer pursuit race in the classic style on New Year's Day. The American won in Toblach in impressive fashion, further extending her lead.

Jessie Diggins steadily increased her lead over the five four-kilometer laps, and after just five kilometers, the gap to her pursuers had grown to almost 90 seconds. Diggins continued to set the pace, and the 34-year-old crossed the finish line in the Nordic Arena in 52:14.8 minutes. This result allowed Diggins to further extend her lead in the overall Tour de France standings. Austrian Teresa Stadlober finished third, as she had on Monday. The 32-year-old from Salzburg was only 0,3 seconds behind Sweden's Moa Ilar in the final sprint. Astrid Oeyre Slind, who had previously held second place overall, did not start due to illness. The best Italian rider was Catarina Ganz in 13th place (+2:55.3 minutes).

The Tour de Ski now moves on to Val di Fiemme, where a sprint and the 10km mass start up Alpe Cermis are on the program.
