Jessica Diggins is the most successful American cross-country skier of all time. She has already won the overall World Cup three times, is an Olympic team champion, a two-time world champion, and has won 29 World Cup races and the Tour de Ski twice. However, the woman from Minnesota still lacks one thing: an Olympic gold medal in an individual discipline. She hopes to finally break the deadlock at next year's Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
The 33-year-old is working hard on roller skis for this. However, in recent days, Diggins has been set back. As can be seen on social media, she suffered severe abrasions in a nasty fall. "I was grinding myself down like a cheese grater," said the American. "I'll heal, but it's a really good reminder of why we always, always need to wear a helmet, because you never know if you might not make the next turn."
Fans needn't worry about Diggins, as she has enough Tegaderm to treat her wounds. However, the coming days and weeks will still be painful for the US cross-country skiing star.
