Now it's over: Therese Johaug pregnant again

Motherhood instead of a comeback: Cross-country skiing legend Therese Johaug is expecting her second child.

The Norwegian announced the news on Instagram, where she posted a photo of herself on the treadmill with a small baby bump. "Tough intervals and heavy breathing, but it feels so good!!," the 37-year-old captioned it. "We're looking forward to expanding our family at the beginning of January." Numerous companions congratulated her under the post.

The multiple Olympic champion Johaug already has a two-year-old daughter named Kristin with her husband Nils Jakob Hoff. Last season, she celebrated her comeback, winning three silver medals and one bronze at the World Ski Championships in her native Norway.

She crowned what was likely her last race in Lahti, Finland, in March with her 50th individual World Cup victory. For a long time, she had toyed with the idea of competing again at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, but then decided to retire again.
