Romantic engagement: Cross-country skiing star loves millionaire

A truly glamorous couple is taking the next step, has become romantically engaged and will soon be walking down the aisle.

This photo says more than a thousand words. A loving couple beams at the camera; he holds a bouquet of roses in his hand, while she extends her right hand, complete with a glittering diamond ring, toward the camera. The two are overjoyed, which is hardly surprising: the young couple in the photo has just gotten engaged; "A weekend for eternity" is written next to it.

Such romantic snapshots are not uncommon on social media platforms like Instagram. Nevertheless, this photo has caused quite a stir in the world of winter sports. The photo features Norwegian cross-country skiing star Emil Iversen and his girlfriend Bettina Burud, who is also a celebrity in Norway. She is one of the richest people in the country.

He's the successful cross-country skier who has already won World Championship and Olympic medals during his career, and she's the famous millionaire. Burud is not only a millionaire and newly engaged, but also Emil Iversen's biggest fan. The 33-year-old Norwegian has been thinking aloud about retiring in recent weeks, but was encouraged by his better half to still tackle the Olympic year. "Bettina supported me a lot, and then we decided together. I want to give it one last try," said Iversen. That must be true love.
