This photo says more than a thousand words. A loving couple beams at the camera; he holds a bouquet of roses in his hand, while she extends her right hand, complete with a glittering diamond ring, toward the camera. The two are overjoyed, which is hardly surprising: the young couple in the photo has just gotten engaged; "A weekend for eternity" is written next to it.
Such romantic snapshots are not uncommon on social media platforms like Instagram. Nevertheless, this photo has caused quite a stir in the world of winter sports. The photo features Norwegian cross-country skiing star Emil Iversen and his girlfriend Bettina Burud, who is also a celebrity in Norway. She is one of the richest people in the country.

For about four years, Iversen and Burud have been a glamorous couple. He's the successful cross-country skier who has already won World Championship and Olympic medals during his career, and she's the famous millionaire. Burud is the daughter and heir of Per-Erik Burud, the founder of the Norwegian supermarket chain KIWI, who died in a tragic boating accident in 2011.
Together for the future
The Norwegian portal Capital In 2023, Bettina Burud was estimated to have a net worth of 1,3 billion Norwegian kroner, or approximately 110 million euros. This places her among the 400 richest people in Norway.Norwegian star cross-country skier: Emil Iversen. © AFP / ODD ANDERSEN
Burud is not only a millionaire and newly engaged, but also Emil Iversen's biggest fan. The 33-year-old Norwegian has been thinking aloud about retiring in recent weeks, but was encouraged by his better half to still tackle the Olympic year. "Bettina supported me a lot, and then we decided together. I want to give it one last try," said Iversen. That must be true love.
