Twenty-four athletes competed in the World Cup qualifier in Steamboat. A third of them made it to the final, which takes place on Friday. Maria Gasslitter from St. Ulrich is not among them.
The South Tyrolean skier completely botched her first run, putting herself under pressure in the second. Gasslitter delivered a decent performance (61,75 points), but she still fell short of the final score. To reach the top 8, she would have needed 76,76 points. As it was, the 19-year-old from Val Gardena finished in 14th place.
The qualifying round was won by Rell Harwood from the USA (86,50). He was followed by Linshan Han (CHN/82,00) and Naomi Urness (CAN/80,50).
