Monteleone's World Cup start goes wrong

On Thursday, the world's best freestylers competed in their season opener on the Stubai Glacier. Also there: 23-year-old Renè Monteleone from Val Gardena.

He had to settle for 26th place in the second qualifying group and therefore missed out on the World Cup final on Friday morning. Monteleone collected 35,50 points, while the day's best, Canadian Evan Mceachran, scored 93 points. In the women's category, the Swiss Mathilde Gremaud (87,50 points) was ahead, while the only 16-year-old Flora Tabanelli (53,25 points) was the only Italian to qualify for the decision on the following day with seventh place.
