Portrait | Alex Verginer: South Tyrol's last Olympic debutant

He had to wait until the penultimate day of the competition, but now Alex Verginer can finally take part in the Olympics for the first time. The 27-year-old from St. Martin in Thurn will plunge into the ice channel - in a bobsleigh with another South Tyrolean.

Verginer is on board as a pusher in Patrick Baumgartner's four-man bobsleigh. They will race through the Olympic ice track next night. We have collected everything interesting and curious about the two of them, but also about all the other South Tyroleans who will be on duty in China for the next few hours - including skier Alex Vinatzer - and created very personal profiles.
