At the European Championships: Baumgartner has nothing to do with medal awarding

The European Championships are being held at the same time as the Bobsleigh World Cup in Lillehammer this weekend. Italy's number 1 bobsleigher, Patrick Baumgartner from Pustertal, missed out on a top result.

Baumgartner, who started with pusher Robert Mircea, finished in 7th place, 1,30 seconds behind the victorious German duo of pilot Francesco Friedrich and pusher Alexander Schüller. Friedrich/Schüller won with a lead of 0,14 seconds over the bobsled of fellow countryman Johannes Lochner, who drove with Georg Fleischhauer. Bronze went to Briton Brad Hall (with Taylor Lawrence/+0,48).

This result put Baumgartner in 9th place in the World Cup rankings. Tomorrow, Sunday, the European Championship and World Cup races in the four-man bobsleigh are scheduled.
