When the baby arrives in the middle of the World Cup

He provides one stellar moment after another in the Ski Jumping World Cup, but now Austria's superstar Stefan Kraft is taking a break for a very welcome reason.

These are turbulent times for Stefan Kraft. On Tuesday, the Austrian star ski jumper made history when he celebrated his 46th World Cup victory in Falun, Sweden. With this, the 32-year-old has now collected 15.811 points in the World Cup and broken the all-time record of Janne Ahonen (15.758).

Is the multiple world champion and overall World Cup winner currently also being boosted by personal happiness? That's quite possible, as Kraft will become a father for the first time in just a few days. And for precisely this reason, the superstar will now be taking a break from the World Cup. After Wednesday's competition in Falun, the Austrian will immediately head back home and take an indefinite break.

Kraft's wife Marisa is expecting their child on December 2nd. "Everything is quiet at home. But I definitely want to be present for the birth," said the ski jumper. When Kraft will return to the World Cup circuit is still uncertain. "Taking five weeks off isn't an option. But I'm sure I can manage one or two weeks," said the three-time overall World Cup winner.
