The background is an anonymously recorded and distributed video that apparently shows dubious editing of the Norwegian suits. Three top nations have protested against the Norwegians being allowed to start in the individual large hill event, as the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) confirmed.
"The protest is directed against Norway's permission to start. It is no longer possible to ensure that the Norwegians' suits comply with the rules. We have lodged a protest with Poland and Slovenia," said sports director Florian Liegl in Trondheim. The German Ski Association (DSV) did not take part in the protest, but is also demanding clarification. According to ARD, the protest was rejected.

According to Hüttel, the Norwegians’ arguments were “dismantled”
"We see a significant need for investigation. There are videos going around that are absolutely bizarre. We have to check: where do they come from, who made them? We are clearly calling on the FIS to clarify the situation," said German sports director Horst Hüttel on ARD.According to Hüttel, the Norwegians' arguments have been "completely dismantled by all leading suit experts". Norway started as planned. However, the athlete Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal was disqualified after the first round because of his suit.
