Ice channel in Cortina ready for the future

Ivo Ferriani, president of the International Bobsleigh Federation (IBSF), has declared that the ice track built for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina is “ready”.

From the association's point of view, it is also the last new track to be built. "We don't need any more. But for us, Cortina is something positive. We will have four tracks within a radius of about two hours. This will allow us to create a calendar with shorter trips and lower costs," said Ferriani.

He was referring to the tracks in Cortina, St. Moritz, Innsbruck and Königssee. The homologation of the new showpiece is due to take place in two weeks. "We from the association are regularly on site. We were there again ten days ago. We saw the progress. The quality and the amount of work is excellent. And I'm not saying that because I'm Italian." This track is a calling card, it must continue to exist in the future.

At the Winter Games, the medal competitions in bobsleigh, luge and skeleton will take place in the Sliding Center.
