In the women's doubles, Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer had to accept an unsuccessful competition by their standards. The South Tyroleans finished in sixth place, 1,466 seconds behind. The day's victory went to the German duo Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal, ahead of the overall World Cup leaders Madeleine Egle and Selina Kipp (+0,023), as well as Anna Berreiter and Merle Fräbel - also from Germany.
In the men's race, Thomas Steu and Wolfgang Kindl took the win. The two Austrians won by a whisker ahead of Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken (+0,002) and Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt (+0,102). The two South Tyrolean duos Ivan Nagler and Fabian Malleier (6th place, +0,623) and Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner (8th place, +0,989) showed a solid performance and made it into the top 10.
Fischnaller's brilliant performance
A little later, the men's singles started on the ice track in Pyeongchang. Dominik Fischnaller (+0,092) confidently took second place. With two committed runs, the South Tyrolean just missed the day's victory. Only the Austrian Wolfgang Kindl, who had already triumphed in the doubles, was faster. For him, it was the first individual victory in three years.Third place went to Latvian Kristers Aparjods (+0,111). The other local athletes, Leon Felderer (+1,688) and Alex Gufler (+1,735), finished in 15th and 16th place respectively.
