Against former club: McCaffrey leads 49ers to victory

Three years after his move from the Carolina Panthers to California, NFL star Christian McCaffrey led his San Francisco 49ers to victory in the duel between the two teams.

The 49ers secured their eighth win of the season with a commanding 20-9 victory. McCaffrey racked up 142 passing yards and scored a touchdown – which is why his team's three turnovers didn't have too much of an impact on the game.

With six weeks remaining in the regular season, the 49ers are in a playoff spot, while the Panthers are not after their sixth defeat.

McCaffrey is one of the few NFL players who consistently puts up strong numbers as both a running back and a receiver. In his first game against his former team since leaving, he rushed for 89 yards and caught passes for 53 yards. This marks the tenth time he has contributed at least 100 yards; he needs two more games with that total to reach his own 49ers record.

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw three interceptions in the first half. However, the Panthers only managed to convert their possession into one field goal.
