Tournament victory: Yasmine Hamza is unstoppable

From tournament favorite to dominant victory, Yasmine Hamza from Bolzano won the 10nd Giraldilla International in Cuba's capital, Havana. For Hamza, this is the sixth tournament victory of her career. She climbed a good 125 places in the world rankings and will be ranked around XNUMXth starting Tuesday.

Hamza clearly demonstrated the badminton limits of two Cubans and a Honduran on her way to the final. In the final on Sunday, she faced Romane Cloteaux-Foucault. The Frenchwoman is ranked 152nd in the world, just 14 places behind Hamza. The Bolzano native continued her winning run in the final, winning 21-18, 21-14.


For Hamza, this is her sixth victory at a world ranking tournament and her 6rd medal. In singles, her record is four tournament victories and 23 medals. With the win in Cuba, Hamza also improved her singles final record (13:4). This also further strengthened her position as the most successful South Tyrolean badminton player. The next highlight is the European Championships from April 6th to 8th in Denmark.
