In recent weeks, the club has been thinking intensively about its future in the cross-border championship. After carefully weighing up all options, the board currently sees the AlpsHL as the only sensible alternative. On Thursday, HC Meran criticizes the AlpsHL. That the Unterland Cavaliers withdraw from the league, has been clear for some time.
"We are convinced of the league," stresses President Walter Ploner. "It is an exciting and balanced championship in which interesting teams compete at a high level. Even though there was some unrest last summer due to the withdrawal of the Steel Wings Linz, the AlpsHL has proven over the last nine years that it is excellently organized in every respect. At the same time, there is no question that there is room for improvement in all areas and that the teams must pull together to make the product even more attractive."
Serie A is currently not an issue
"The often-criticized travel costs would not be significantly lower in a Serie A. We are watching the development of a purely Italian championship with interest, but at the moment the AlpsHL offers the best overall package. As a club, we are striving to improve our infrastructure in order to be even more professional in the future," Ploner concludes.Edit Profile
