The 28-year-old defenseman, born in Calgary, Canada, moved from Toblach to Merano in the summer of 2022 and has since become a reliable defensive pillar. "With his style of play and his vision, he has firmly established himself in the team," the Eagles wrote in a press release. Last season, Rein collected 20 points and played a key role in reaching the quarterfinals of the Alps Hockey League (AlpsHL).
"With his consistent performances and leadership qualities, Rein not only impressed in Merano, but also twice wore the blue jersey of the Italian national team. Now, the left-footed shooter, appreciated by fans and teammates, is entering his fourth season in black and white," the press release reads.
Alex Curti stays with his hometown club.
Meanwhile, the Unterland Cavaliers have announced the extension of Alex Curti. The 19-year-old, who made his AlpsHL debut in 2022, recorded seven points in 30 games last season. The defenseman is expected to continue his development in the new season.
