Mantinger scored ten goals in 61 games last season. The attacker scored his best goal on February 29th in the decisive pre-playoff game against Olimpija Ljubljana. When the score was 1:1, the Kalterer player took the lead through his legs while falling. In the end, the Wolves won 4-3 in overtime, qualifying them for the ICE quarterfinals for the second time.
“To be honest, I didn’t expect my goal to be voted goal of the year. After all, many great goals were scored during this season. “I’m happy about it and would like to thank all the fans, friends and acquaintances who voted for this goal,” emphasizes Mantinger. “I like to think back to the victory in the pre-playoffs decider against Ljubljana, which took us into the playoffs. After falling behind right from the start, we were able to turn the game around and win in overtime. This goal was definitely the most spectacular one I've scored so far and I couldn't believe it myself when the puck was in the goal. I don’t think I could do it again either.”
In the final of the fan voting, the 28-year-old beat a similar goal from Graham Knott from Black Wings Linz. Third place went to Lukas Haudum from runner-up EC-KAC, who had the upper hand in the duel for third place against Villach player Alexander Rauchwald. A total of 32 goals were available for fan voting.
