Now it's fixed: Hanlon no longer HCB coach

What has been announced for weeks is now certain: Glen Hanlon will no longer be the head coach of HCB Südtirol Alperia next season.

The HCB officially announced on Monday afternoon that Glen Hanlon will be leaving the Foxes. The 68-year-old Canadian has decided not to continue his time on the coaching bench for personal reasons. As SportNews reported, he may have preempted a separation from the club.

Hanlon first came to Bolzano in the 2022/23 season and led the team to Game 7 of the playoff final, which they lost in dramatic fashion to Red Bull Salzburg at the Sparkasse Arena. A few months later, he returned to Bolzano after a weak start to the season, this time reaching the semifinals—a feat he repeated this year.

Title dream remains denied

In total, he played 183 games with Bolzano, winning 123 and losing 60, corresponding to a win rate of 67,21%. In the playoffs, Hanlon and his Foxes were always defeated by Salzburg. Thus, a title in Bolzano was denied him. A situation that has continued throughout his coaching career.
“They were three special years that I will always carry in my heart.” Glen Hanlon

"It was an honor and a privilege to coach this team—as well as to represent this glorious club, its fans, and the city of Bolzano. I thank the entire management, the players, and the staff, and wish them continued success at HCB. These were three special years that I will always carry in my heart. The time has now come for me to return home to my family," Hanlon said in his farewell remarks.
