With an Italian: Zurich is Swiss champion again

The ZSC Lions have asserted their dominance in Swiss ice hockey. The Zurich-based team won its second consecutive championship title on Thursday evening. An Italian player also celebrated.

This year's National League saw a dream final between regular season winner Lausanne and defending champion Zurich. The winner of this year's Champions Hockey League crowned its perfect season, showing no mercy in the best-of-7 series and winning 4-1.

The Lions secured the decisive victory on Thursday evening, winning 3-2 in Lausanne. After Justin Sigrist opened the scoring after just two and a half minutes, Lausanne turned the game around and took a 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Antti Suomela and Aurelien Marti. Christian Marti equalized in the middle period before Jesper Fröden sealed the victory with seven minutes remaining. For ZSC, this is their eleventh Swiss championship title.

Segafredo is pleased with

Alessandro Segafredo, a native of Asiago, also played a small role. The 20-year-old was selected for the first game of the series, which Zurich won 3-0. He played a total of 29 games for the Lions this season – five of them in the playoffs. However, he will be absent from the upcoming Division XNUMXA World Championship in Romania – along with Giovanni Morini and Tommaso De Luca, who also play in Switzerland.
