Transalpine Run: South Tyrolean double success in Prettau

With their second consecutive victory, Irene Senfter and Stefan Tschurtschenthaler took the lead in the overall mixed doubles ranking. They completed today's section in 4:49.44 hours. The woman from Lanan and the man from Sexten relegated the Spaniards Rodriguez Bustillo and Azpeleta Che Dominguez to second place by just 10.24 minutes. Before the fifth stage, the two South Tyroleans have a lead of 3.28 minutes in the overall ranking over the second-placed Spaniards.

In fact: In the women's class, the runners-up in the overall standings, Elisabeth Egarter from Sexten and Petra Theiner from Marlingen, had to give up due to tendon and knee problems (Egarter/Theiner). “The race was over after ten minutes,” explains Egarter. “It's a shame, because we were in second place overall, well ahead of the third-placed team.” The leading masters, the mountain running specialists Helmut Schiessl and Markus Kröll (D/A), also had to give up.

The second South Tyrolean victory goes to the Senior Masters (collectively at least 100 years old). Defending champion Rudi Schöpf and his partner Hans Hörmann (Team Latsch) achieved their first victory today after two third places and one second place. In the overall ranking, they are in second place, 13 minutes behind, behind Gerald Rüschenpöhler and Jörg Schreiber from Allgäu, who came second today. The local heroes Peter-Paul Steinhauser and Hermann Schaiter (Team Ahrntal) took third place on the podium.

The first purely South Tyrolean stage will take place tomorrow. It leads from Prettau in the Ahrntal over 32,80 km and 1821 meters in altitude to Sand in Taufers.
