Derby party: FC Obermais is rocking its Lahn again

The penultimate matchday of the Oberliga was dominated by the derby between Obermais and Naturns. In the end, the FCO celebrated, with an actor who wasn't necessarily on the bill playing his way into the spotlight.

The Lahn in Obermais – this is one of the most famous football pitches in South Tyrol. However, the FCO has not been able to play a match in its “living room” this season. Because the turf was newly laid, the Blue-Whites have previously played their home games on the Viehmarktplatz in Meran. It wasn't until Sunday - in the last home match of the first half of the season - that Lukas Höller & Co. returned to the Lahn. And they celebrated a big party: they won 3-0 against their arch-rivals Naturns.

It was not a footballing treat that the almost 1000 fans experienced at the foot of Trauttmansdorff Castle. Rather, it was a game in which the fight predominated. And in which a young Schenner became a hero: Tobias Pföstl, who has been with the FCO since this season, not only shot his way into the hearts of the infamous Obermaiser Curva Sud with a brace, but also became the match winner of the game.

The game started like a dream for the 24-year-old: 30 seconds had been played when the winger was in the right spot after a long throw-in from Lukas Höller and scored to make it 1-0. After the break, Pföstl scored the best goal of the game: he took his measure in the penalty area and curled the ball into the net to make it 2-0. Matteo Timpone scored the final point with a header from Manuel Brusco's cross.

Obermais showed an impressive reaction after the 0-3 defeat against St. Georgen. In Naturns, however, the situation doesn't get any easier: after the 0-3 defeat against Partschins, the Lower Vinschgers suffered a heavy defeat against their nearest local rivals and remain second to last in the table.

What else happened?

St. Georgen has finally got going, celebrating its fourth win from its last five games on Sunday. The Jergina won 2-0 away at Bozner FC. Two midfielders became the match winners: Lukas Aichner and Julian Bacher scored the goals.

Meanwhile, Tramin remains a phenomenon: thanks to an Alex Pfischer double pack and a David Toll goal, the Unterlanders won against Anaune 3-0 and are now the first pursuers of leaders Rovereto, who are only one point ahead of the Traminers. After 14 games, Pfitscher now has 15 goals – an incredible rate.

Lana, however, got his second point: There was a 1-1 draw against Stegen. The bottom team was even ahead 90-1 until the 0th minute, but then Laurin Aichner let Lana's dream of a first win evaporate.
