A surprise included: These are the cup quarter-finalists

Five round of 5 games were played in the state cup on Wednesday evening. There was also a surprise.

The top game of the round took place in Ahrntal, where Teldra met Naturns. The state team prevailed 3-1 against the weakened upper league team. The guests took a 35-1 lead in the 0th minute when young striker Paul Rettenbacher reacted quickest after a commotion in the penalty area. But before the break, Simon Oberhollenzer headed in Ahrntal's equaliser.

Shortly after the break, Simon Gaisler gave the home team the lead after an assist from set-piece specialist David Zimmerhofer. In the 64th minute, youngster David Oberschmied, who stayed cool in front of Naturns keeper Felix Piazzo, scored the preliminary decision with his goal to make it 3-1.

Sexten creates surprises

What else happened? Oberliga team St. Georgen was clearly in the lead at Kaltern for a long time. In the end, the Pusterers still had to tremble against the 1st Amateur League club, but won 3-2. Sexten managed a surprise. Jannik Sinner's home club from Hochpustertal, which is at home in the 2nd amateur league, won 1-0 against regional league team Ridnauntal.

Olympia Meran and Latsch, on the other hand, celebrated favorite wins away against Jenesien and Neugries. The game between Gitschberg Jochtal and Bozner FC had to be canceled. The quarter-finals will take place on Wednesday, April 17th.
