Game has to be repeated: No opponent for Naturns yet

SSV Naturns should actually have played against Benacense for promotion to the top league next Sunday, but now there is suddenly uncertainty. The reason: a formal error by a referee.

Naturns was on on the last state league matchday with a 1-0 win against Bruneck Second place in the table and thus participation in the playoff for promotion to the Oberliga. In this, the second-placed regional league team from South Tyrol meets the second-place team from Trentino.

In the neighboring province there was once again high tension on the last matchday: Dro secured the title with a 1-1 draw against direct rivals Aquila Trento, while Benacense moved up to second place with a 3-0 win against Settaurense. Accordingly, the team from Riva should actually have started preparations for the playoff against Naturns on Sunday. But now everything is different: the game against Settaurense has to be replayed due to a formal error. According to an official letter from the Trentino Football Association, the referee sent off the Settaurense goalkeeper in the second half for a saved back pass from a teammate instead of just punishing the offense with a free kick.

So Benacense has to compete again this Wednesday at 20 p.m. against Settaurense, who already thought they were on their summer break, and win again at the same time. If this succeeds, the team from Lake Garda will face Naturns next Sunday at the Briamasco Stadium in Trento. However, should Settaurense Benacense take at least one point this time, Hannes Kiem and Co.'s opponent in the promotion showdown will be Aquila Trento.
