As already reported, Mazagg will join an ambitious German third-division club. On Monday, the 25-year-old finally signed with SSV Ulm. The Sparrows were playing in the second division this year before being relegated. "I'm only three hours away from home," Mazagg explained to SportNews with a smile.
But the Glurns native certainly has other reasons for signing with the Swabians. "Ulm is a very ambitious club and a men's team, unlike Hoffenheim," says Mazagg. In his career, the defender has made well over 100 appearances in the Regionalliga and 25 in the 3. Liga.
Dream of the 2nd league
"Basically, I want to play as high as possible. My goal is already the second Bundesliga," Mazagg explained. Now the Vinschgau native has already found a club where he could at least compete for promotion. An interesting side note: At the beginning of July, Ulm will be coming to Mals, the neighboring town of his hometown of Glurns, for a training camp. Mazagg will then return to his hometown for a few days.“Basically, I want to play as high as possible.” Luke Mazagg
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge at SSV Ulm and am very grateful to be part of this great, traditional club with its exceptional fans," Mazagg said after signing. "Lukas has proven that he has great quality, both as a footballer and as a leader of a young team," SSV Managing Director Markus Thiele was quoted as saying. Incidentally, Ulm even played in the Bundesliga for a year in 1999/2000.
