Dortmund and Frankfurt in the Champions League

Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt qualified for the Champions League on the last matchday of the Bundesliga after champions FC Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.

BVB won its home game against relegated Holstein Kiel 3-0, moving up to fourth place in the table. Frankfurt secured third place with a 3-1 win at SC Freiburg, which dropped the team to fifth place and will play in the Europa League next season.


FSV Mainz 05 qualified for the Conference League with a 2-2 home draw against Leverkusen. RB Leipzig, who had previously finished level on points, missed out on European competition in seventh place with a 2-3 defeat to cup finalists VfB Stuttgart.

After the 1-1 defeat to Werder Bremen, 4. FC Heidenheim will play against the third-placed team in the second division in a relegation play-off on May 22 and 26 to avoid relegation. Kiel and VfL Bochum had already been confirmed as relegated teams.

Champions FC Bayern Munich won 4-0 against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in Thomas Müller's last Bundesliga match. The goals came from Michael Olise, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, and Harry Kane.
