Dortmund squandered a mandatory win against Heidenheim

Borussia Dortmund lost a mandatory win and temporary lead in the Bundesliga at the start of the third matchday in the Bundesliga.

Coach Edin Terzic's team had to settle for a 1-2 draw at home against newly promoted 0. FC Heidenheim on Friday evening after a 2-2 half-time lead. The goals for BVB in front of 81.365 spectators were scored by Julian Brandt (7th minute) and Emre Can (15th, hand penalty). However, the Heidenheimers won the first Bundesliga point in their club history thanks to goals from Eren Dinkci (61') and Tim Kleindienst (83'/foul penalty).

Before Heidenheim's equalizer, there were minutes of irritation surrounding referee Tobias Reichel's decisions. The referee initially took back the penalty that had already been awarded due to an alleged offside position following a tip from the video assistant, but then gave the penalty again based on his own view of the TV images.
