Freiburg slows down Wolfsburg

Initiated by a brace from defender Lukas Kübler, SC Freiburg stopped VfL Wolfsburg’s upward trend.

Freiburg almost gave away a 3-0 lead against the Lower Saxony team, but ultimately beat them 3-2. Freiburg thus pushed VfL out of fifth place in the Bundesliga table.

Kübler scored from corners in the 42nd and 51st minutes. It was his second brace of the season. Michael Gregoritsch scored Freiburg's third goal (61st minute). Jonas Wind (75th minute) and Mattias Svanberg (83rd minute) scored for VfL with overhead kicks, both as substitutes, in front of 32.600 spectators.

Wolfsburg had previously won five competitive matches in a row. In Freiburg they were also the better team at first. But the hosts improved as the game progressed - and deserved the three points.
