The difficult 3-0 (0-0) win against a badly battered SV Werder Bremen was enough for the league leaders to extend their lead over Bayer Leverkusen to nine points at the start of the 21st matchday. Goalscorer Kane was once again the guarantor of success.
After a long ball from Joshua Kimmich, the Englishman took the ball with his chest in the penalty area. The ball bounced off Werder defender Anthony Jung's outstretched right arm in a duel. Video evidence confirmed the penalty call. In stoppage time, Kane was even allowed to take another shot and again scored safely. Kane remained cool on his 13th Bundesliga penalty, shooting flat into the left corner. Leroy Sané increased the lead to 2-0 with his first action. The national player only had to put his foot out in the 82nd minute after preparatory work by Konrad Laimer, who had also been substituted on.

On Wednesday, the Munich team will first have to play the first leg of the Champions League playoff against Scottish champions Celtic Glasgow, followed three days later by the top league match against the German champions in Leverkusen. However, coach Vincent Kompany's team is not bursting with energy and ease ahead of the crucial tasks.
